为了庆祝. Seuss’ Day, 东北湖景学院 (NLC) hosted over 200 1st 年级学生从 elementary schools in its service area where they participated in various Dr. Seuss activities, including the reading of “Green Eggs and Ham.” Other activities throughout the day included arts and crafts that relate to a college-going culture and getting a photograph in a cap and gown holding a college diploma cover. The event concluded with an Egg Hunt.

Each child participating in the day’s events left NLC with a grade level appropriate book.

现在是5th year, this event is held annually as part of NLC’s ongoing Adopt-A-School Pathways Project. Students participating this year are 1st 年级学生从 蜡烛木小学 (Judson ISD)和 Woodstone Elementary (Northeast ISD).

"Getting students informed and engaged in college as early as possible is our main goal”, says Dr. Veronica Garcia, 东北湖景学院 president. “And creating fun activities like these are just one way to get students on a college campus and create a college-going culture.”

东北湖景学院 launched the Adopt-a-School Pathways Project in Fall 2014. The initiative brings the college experience to students (from pre-K to high school). The pathway project uses structured programming throughout the year to get students informed and engaged about college. Through targeted strategies with local school districts, 东北湖景学院 aims to make students more successful as they transition to college-level coursework.

“东北湖景学院 would like to thank the local businesses who made today’s event possible, including our primary sponsor, 目标, as well as support from H-E-B and Bahama Bucks,加西亚补充道.

Since 2014, the Adopt-A-School Initiative has impacted more than 4,000 students.
