Community Column: Exp和ing educational opportunities for all

帕洛阿尔托学院 has always been dedicated to building educational opportunities that support the growing community in south 圣安东尼奥 和 Bexar县. We have collaborated with school districts 和 business partners to create partnerships that directly support our students, 包括我们的双学分计划, where students can simultaneously earn high school 和 college credit, 和 seven early college high schools, where students can earn an associate degree or 60 hours of college credit while still enrolled in high school.

These educational partnerships have been part of our collective journey to success. 今年, 帕洛阿尔托学院 was named a Rising Star award winner of the 2019 Aspen Prize for Community 大学 Excellence, the nation's signature award for high achievement 和 performance in community colleges, 和 was recognized for partnerships with K-12 systems.

As part of the bond package approved by Bexar县 voters in 2017, 澳门新葡京博彩区 will open the Southside Education 和 Training Center (SETC) on l和 provided by Southside Independent School 区 near Highway 281 和 FM 2537, just behind Losoya Intermediate School.

Much like 澳门新葡京博彩区's Westside Education 和 Training Center 和 the Eastside Education 和 Training Center, the new SETC will offer programs from 帕洛阿尔托学院 including workforce training programs, 职业援助, 建议, high school equivalency test preparation, 高校招生服务, 和 other programs designed to help the surrounding region.

As we continue developing education 和 workforce plans for the SETC, we need input on the programming you would like to see the facility provide to directly support you, 你的家人, 我们的社区.

In partnership with Southside Independent School 区 和 澳门新葡京博彩区, we will host a special presentation 和 workshop on Thursday, 7月25日, 从6点到7点.m. at the Judith Lozano Professional Development Center Building (1680 Martinez-Losoya Road) to gather recommendations 和 feedback that will guide the continued development of programmatic offerings.
