Success in life leads to success in classroom

随着学生们进入新学期, some may be learning to juggle schoolwork and various life demands. 帕洛阿尔托学院 offers many resources available to support students outside of the classroom so they can do their best academically.

的年代.H.A.R.E. (学生健康, 宣传, 资源, 及参与)中心, 位于学生中心, is a hub of non-academic resources to address various challenges students face while pursuing education. Through grant-funded resources and partnerships with community organizations, 的年代.H.A.R.E. 中心提供食物, 服装, 金融知识, 职业准备, 健康检查, and referrals to additional support services. These resources help ensure students can continue making progress toward bettering their lives through higher education when unexpected life situations arise.

自2016年12月开业以来，S.H.A.R.E. Center has provided nearly 8,000 services to over 4,300 individual students. Data from the 2017-2018 academic year shows that students who utilized the resources were more likely to complete their semester and re-enroll the following semester.

The Financial Literacy Advisor connects students to in-person and online 金融知识 training on topics such as budgeting, 资金管理, 信贷, and smart borrowing to help students build financial security.

当学生面对不可预见的, 无计划的, and unavoidable events that require them to secure funds on short notice, they can apply for the Emergency 援助 Program (EAP). 一次性补助金，最高可达$1,000提供有限公司, short-term financial assistance to students who are struggling with emergency circumstances that could jeopardize their chances of earning a degree or certificate. Students who utilize the EAP then receive individualized education specific to 金融知识 in an effort to facilitate their long-term financial wellness.

The BAEBSAFE Program provides abstinence-based education and reproductive health programming for students and partners with local health care agencies to provide referrals for students, 包括艾滋病毒, 性病, 怀孕测试. 今年春天, BAEBSAFE is launching a partnership with the Texas Diaper Bank to provide student parents with free children's diapers and provide female students with free feminine hygiene products.

由美国志愿队VISTA团队提供支持, the 健康中心 provides nutritional resources to students and the community. They host regular food demonstrations on campus, teaching recipes for healthy eating (free food included!). The 帕洛阿尔托学院 Farmers Market is held on the last Monday of each month and features food and goods from local vendors. 储备新鲜水果, 蔬菜, and more at the 帕洛阿尔托学院 Food Fair, hosted in partnership with the 圣安东尼奥 Food Bank to provide healthy food to students and the surrounding community. Vouchers are required but are free and available for pick up in 的年代.H.A.R.E. 中心(学生中心101). The next Food Fair will be held on Friday, Feb. 22.
